Their key feature is the unique weave, known as the "Kota Doria" or "Kota Dori", which involves interlacing threads to create a fine, airy texture. The sarees typically have a square-shaped checkered pattern, which is created by alternating the threads in the warp and weft.
Kota silk sarees have a translucent quality due to their fine weave, making them ideal for draping elegantly and comfortably, especially in warmer weather.
Despite their lightweight and delicate appearance, Kota silk sarees are surprisingly durable. These sarees require delicate care to maintain their beauty and integrity.
A delicate and very intricate floral embroidery is done along the border to create very exquisite drapes. The color palette for the embroidery beautifully complements the soft base color.
